Sending a parcel from Georgia to Slovakia
Diplomatic relations between Georgia and Slovakia were established on 1 January 1993. The Georgian embassy in Bratislava opened in 2006, and the Slovak embassy in Tbilisi in 2014.
In February 2023 the two countries' foreign ministries signed a protocol of cooperation recognising Georgia's European perspective and its aspiration to full membership of Euro-Atlantic structures.
For Georgians living in Slovakia, receiving a parcel from home is often a way of keeping a connection to family and friends.
You give us the parcel and the details we need, and we help organise the process of getting it to Slovakia.

Georgia and Slovakia — a strengthened direct link
Travel between the two countries has grown noticeably in recent years. A direct air link between Kutaisi and Bratislava began operating on 12 January 2026, running four times a week. Bratislava is the only Slovak destination with a direct connection to Kutaisi.
Political dialogue is active too: Georgian-Slovak political consultations were held in Bratislava in June 2024.
Slovakia has been a member of the eurozone since 2009. That is practical for anyone sending a parcel: EU customs relief thresholds are set in euro and the currency in use in the country is also the euro, so a consignment's value is compared against them in a single currency.
Direct connections like these bring the Slovak route closer for the people who deal with each other across the two countries.
How much does it cost to send a parcel to Slovakia?
The cost depends on the weight of the parcel and the rate in force.
Send us the weight of your parcel and the destination city in Slovakia to get the current price.
What to know before sending to Slovakia
Below are the official European Union rules that apply when a parcel is received. These are not Parcello's own terms.
Slovakia uses the euro
Slovakia adopted the euro on 1 January 2009. The euro replaced the Slovak koruna at a fixed rate of €1 = 30.1260 koruna. Because EU customs relief thresholds are also set in euro, comparing the value of a consignment against them requires no further conversion.
VAT rate
The standard VAT rate in Slovakia is 23%.
Parcels go through customs
Georgia is not a member of the European Union, so a parcel sent to Europe goes through customs when it enters the EU. The recipient may be charged value added tax (VAT) and, in some cases, customs duty as well.
Gifts under €45 are exempt
When one private individual sends a parcel to another for personal or family use and its value does not exceed €45, the consignment is exempt from customs duty and VAT. The relief applies only to occasional, non-commercial gifts — a birthday parcel, for example. If the value exceeds €45, VAT is charged on the whole consignment.
A new rule applies from 1 July 2026
The European Union has abolished the customs duty exemption for consignments valued under €150. In its place, from 1 July 2026 a flat customs duty of €3 applies, calculated per tariff line rather than per parcel. The rule is aimed primarily at consignments from online shopping and is temporary — it runs until 1 July 2028.
Separate rules apply to alcohol and tobacco
Gift relief does not fully cover alcohol and tobacco: VAT and excise duty are charged on these products regardless. Relief from customs duty applies only to strictly limited quantities — 50 cigarettes, or one litre of spirits, for example.
