Diplomatic relations between Georgia and the Republic of Lithuania were established on 16 September 1994. The Georgian embassy in Lithuania opened in 2004. From 2001 to 2005 Lithuania was represented in Georgia through its embassy in Ukraine, and in 2005 a Lithuanian embassy opened in Georgia as well.

In Lithuania, gifts are declared too
Lithuania is a member of the European Union and the eurozone, so EU customs rules apply to a parcel sent from Georgia, and a consignment's value and the customs relief thresholds are in the same currency — the euro.
Lithuania Post (Lietuvos paštas) makes a point of stressing that a gift received from outside the EU must be declared to customs even when it is not taxed. A gift worth up to €45 is tax-free, but it still has to be declared.
The recipient can declare the parcel through Lithuania Post's service, or independently through Lithuanian Customs or another customs broker. According to the post, the parcel is handed over for delivery once the taxes are paid. The standard VAT rate in Lithuania is 21%.
That is why it helps if the recipient knows in advance what is in the parcel and what it is worth — they will need exactly that information when filling in the declaration.
How much does it cost to send a parcel to Lithuania?
The cost depends on the weight of the parcel and the rate in force.
Send us the weight of your parcel and the destination city in Lithuania to get the current price.
What to know before sending to Lithuania
Below are the official European Union rules that apply when a parcel is received. These are not Parcello's own terms.
Lithuania was the last Baltic state to join the eurozone
Lithuania joined the European Union in 2004 and adopted the euro on 1 January 2015 — after Estonia (2011) and Latvia (2014). The euro replaced the Lithuanian litas at a fixed rate of €1 = 3.45280 litas. The Bank of Lithuania exchanges litas banknotes and coins for euro with no time limit.
VAT rate
The standard VAT rate in Lithuania is 21%.
Gifts must be declared too
According to Lithuania Post (Lietuvos paštas), a gift sent free of charge from one private person to another from outside the EU must be declared to customs even when it is not taxed. A gift worth no more than €45 is tax-free. The recipient can declare the parcel through Lithuania Post's service, or independently — through Lithuanian Customs or another customs broker.
Parcels go through customs
Georgia is not a member of the European Union, so a parcel sent to Europe goes through customs when it enters the EU. The recipient may be charged value added tax (VAT) and, in some cases, customs duty as well.
Gifts under €45 are exempt
When one private individual sends a parcel to another for personal or family use and its value does not exceed €45, the consignment is exempt from customs duty and VAT. The relief applies only to occasional, non-commercial gifts — a birthday parcel, for example. If the value exceeds €45, VAT is charged on the whole consignment.
A new rule applies from 1 July 2026
The European Union has abolished the customs duty exemption for consignments valued under €150. In its place, from 1 July 2026 a flat customs duty of €3 applies, calculated per tariff line rather than per parcel. The rule is aimed primarily at consignments from online shopping and is temporary — it runs until 1 July 2028.
Separate rules apply to alcohol and tobacco
Gift relief does not fully cover alcohol and tobacco: VAT and excise duty are charged on these products regardless. Relief from customs duty applies only to strictly limited quantities — 50 cigarettes, or one litre of spirits, for example.
