Sending a parcel from Georgia to Czechia
Diplomatic relations between Georgia and Czechia were established on 1 January 1993, immediately after the dissolution of Czechoslovakia. The Czech embassy in Tbilisi opened in 2000, and the Georgian embassy in Prague in 2006.
Over the years a Georgian community has formed in Czechia, principally in Prague. The Georgian diaspora organisation Iveria was formally founded in the country in 2014.
For people in that position, a parcel from Georgia is often a simple way of keeping a connection to family and home — a gift, clothing, personal belongings or other permitted goods.
You give us the parcel and the details we need, and we help organise the process of getting it to Czechia.

Czechia is in the EU, but its currency is the koruna
Czechia is a member of the European Union but is not in the eurozone: payments are made in Czech koruna (CZK), and the country has set no target date for adopting the euro.
In practice that means EU customs reliefs — including the threshold for a gift sent between private individuals — are defined in euro and converted into koruna in Czechia. So both currencies are worth keeping in mind when assessing the value of a consignment.
This is precisely where Czechia differs from neighbouring Slovakia: until 1993 both countries were part of one state, Czechoslovakia, but Slovakia adopted the euro in 2009 while Czechia kept its national currency.
That makes describing a parcel's contents and value accurately particularly important on the Czech route — it helps the customs procedure complete without delay.
How much does it cost to send a parcel to Czechia?
The cost depends on the weight of the parcel and the rate in force.
Send us the weight of your parcel and the destination city in Czechia to get the current price.
What to know before sending to Czechia
Below are the official European Union rules that apply when a parcel is received. These are not Parcello's own terms.
Czechia is not in the eurozone
Czechia is a member of the European Union but is not in the eurozone — its national currency is the Czech koruna (CZK). The country has set no target date for adopting the euro. Because customs relief thresholds are defined in euro, in Czechia they are converted into koruna.
VAT rate
The standard VAT rate in Czechia is 21%.
Parcels go through customs
Georgia is not a member of the European Union, so a parcel sent to Europe goes through customs when it enters the EU. The recipient may be charged value added tax (VAT) and, in some cases, customs duty as well.
Gifts under €45 are exempt
When one private individual sends a parcel to another for personal or family use and its value does not exceed €45, the consignment is exempt from customs duty and VAT. The relief applies only to occasional, non-commercial gifts — a birthday parcel, for example. If the value exceeds €45, VAT is charged on the whole consignment.
A new rule applies from 1 July 2026
The European Union has abolished the customs duty exemption for consignments valued under €150. In its place, from 1 July 2026 a flat customs duty of €3 applies, calculated per tariff line rather than per parcel. The rule is aimed primarily at consignments from online shopping and is temporary — it runs until 1 July 2028.
Separate rules apply to alcohol and tobacco
Gift relief does not fully cover alcohol and tobacco: VAT and excise duty are charged on these products regardless. Relief from customs duty applies only to strictly limited quantities — 50 cigarettes, or one litre of spirits, for example.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a parcel take to reach Czechia?
Delivery time depends on the route and the service chosen. We will confirm the expected time with you before your order is finalised.
Does Czechia use the euro or its own currency?
Czechia is not in the eurozone and its national currency is the Czech koruna (CZK). EU customs relief thresholds are set in euro and converted into koruna, so the value of a consignment needs to be stated accurately.
